The Fostering Success Act tax credit program supports eligible Georgia foster youth under age 26 who are pursuing education and career goals. We help remove barriers so you can focus on your future—connecting you with trusted organizations and a dedicated life coach for guidance on school enrollment, financial literacy, career planning, and life skills. You may also receive grant support for essential needs like housing, transportation, food, healthcare, and more.

FSA Youth Eligibility
- Former foster child between the age of 18 and 26 who was in the Georgia Foster Care system or is enrolled in an Independent Living Program. 16-18 year olds still in care can receive support for qualified expenditures not already being covered by the state as needed to progress into post-secondary programming.
NOTE: All youth must provide a DFCS Verification Letter (on DFCS letterhead) including full name, date of birth, date entering care, date leaving care or specifying youth is still in care.
- Experienced foster care in Georgia for a minimum of six months after their 14th birthday. NOTE: Time in care is not required to be six continuous months.
- A “justice-involved youth” who is currently or was previously committed to the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) with placement in a community-based or nonsecure setting.
- Achieved or is working towards a Georgia high school diploma or GED.
- Has applied to and is awaiting acceptance or is enrolled in an accredited postsecondary school or other recognized and approved apprenticeship, internship, trade or vocational program with classes starting imminently within the same quarter.
NOTE: Proof of enrollment is required including documentation of the student’s name, student ID# (if applicable), name of learning institution/program, list of classes enrolled in and for which period of time.
