Foster Care Scholarship details

The Foster Care Scholarship provides financial assistance for the cost of attendance to eligible students who were in foster care at the age of 14 under the supervision of the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) and who are enrolled at an Eligible Postsecondary Institution.

The Process

Fostering Success Act, Inc. will submit this application on your behalf to the Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFA). GSFA will review the application and supporting documentation for meeting the foster care requirement. The eligible school will be notified of your application. The school determines if you meet all program eligibility requirements and determines award amounts.

GSFA will notify you by email when your application is processed and the school is notified.

Note:

  • Students are required to complete the FAFSA each year.
  • To continue receiving the Georgia Foster Care Scholarship in subsequent years at an eligible school, you must notify GSFA of your enrollment for the new school year and the school you are attending by emailing sgfunds@gsfc.org.
